The Woltman water meter is a type of mechanical flow meter used to measure the volume of water passing through a pipeline. It consists of a turbine wheel which is rotated by the flow of water, and a series of gears that convert the rotational motion of the wheel into a display of the total volume of water that has passed through the meter.
The basic mechanism of the Woltman water meter consists of an inlet and outlet pipe, with a turbine wheel mounted on a central axis in between them. As water flows through the meter, it drives the turbine wheel, which in turn rotates a shaft and a series of gears. These gears drive a series of dials or a digital readout that displays the total volume of water that has passed through the meter.
